Opisywane w pracy zagadnienie techniczne dotyczy aspektów wykonywania fundamentów dla konstrukcji gruntowo-powłokowych. Nowoczesność konstruowania powłok w tych obiektach wyprzedziła rozwiązania ich fundamentowania. Fundamenty te najczęściej wykonywane są jako tradycyjne konstrukcje „sztywne” (co wiąże się z ich masywnością – obecnie najczęściej żelbetowe). Porównanie właśnie tych dwóch zagadnień: „podatności” konstrukcji nośnej i „sztywności” fundamentów leży u podstaw inspiracji do podjęcia stosownych badań i analiz w tym zakresie. W tym celu przeprowadzono odpowiednie rozpoznanie wspomnianego wyżej zagadnienia, a następnie dokonano odpowiednich badań laboratoryjnych w skali naturalnej, których wyniki zaprezentowano w publikacji. Obecnie trwają dalsze prace rozwojowe, które będą miały w przyszłości aspekt wdrożeniowy i praktyczny w postaci wykonania odpowiednich wytycznych. Zasadnicza część pracy została poprzedzona krótkim zestawieniem wcześniej wykonanych prac laboratoryjnych w skali naturalnej dla konstrukcji gruntowo-powłokowych.

Technical issues described in this paper concern the aspects of the implementation of foundations of buried corrugated metal structures. Innovative solutions related to the construction of these structures has been ahead of the solution to their foundation. These foundations are most frequently prepared as traditional "rigid" structures (related to their volume – currently reinforced concrete is the most common solution). Comparison of these two issues, i.e. "susceptibility" of main bridge support structure and the "stiffness" of foundations has been an inspiration to undertake the appropriate research and analysis in this area. The results of suitable identification of technical issues mentioned above and appropriate tests in laboratory tests in natural scale have been presented in the paper. Currently, further development research is being carried out that can lead to prepare and implement relevant guidelines. The main part of this paper has been preceded with a short summary of previously performed laboratory tests of these structures in natural scale.
