W pracy przedstawiono właściwości szkła i jego przydatność dla konstrukcji budowlanych. Krótko opisano jego specyficzne cechy. Zwrócono uwagę na jego wady i zalety. Przedstawiono również różne rodzaje wyrobów szklanych. Pokazano przykłady zastosowania szkła i zrealizowanych na świecie konstrukcji mostowych. Dokonano oceny tych konstrukcji w aspekcie estetycznym.

Technical properties of glass and its suitability for construction design have been presented in the article. Glass-specific properties are shortly described here in. Its advantages and drawbacks are underlined as well. Different types of glass products are described together with the glass application examples and several bridge structures completed around the world. Finally the bridge structures are assessed in terms of aesthetic aspect.
