In 1997 from the initiative of the University of Technology and Agricultural in Bydgoszcz came out a conception of creating the indexing base Polish journals from the scope of technical studies. In 1998 interested institutions signed the Agreement of libraries and institutes in Bydgoszcz, of which shared creating was a purpose bibliographic databases containing citations from the Polish technical journals under the name BazTech. Coordinator of cooperating libraries work at BazTech, and the Agreement was the University of Technology and Agricultural in Bydgoszcz. 14 academic libraries and research institute ascceded to the Agreement, in next years another 8 joined it. Since 2006 the Coordinator of the Agreement is Cracow University of Technology.
In 2007 activity of the Agreement grew wider for building the "subject gateway" portal under the name BazTOL - Polish internet sources on technical science.
In may 2008 institutions forming the Agreement changed the name to the Consortium BazTech, and signed the document which determining principles of cooperation of the institution. The aim of the BazTech Consortium is continuing and elaborating plans of the Agreement. At present 22 libraries of academic and special libraries cooperate in project and create:
• BazTech - Database of the Polish Technical Journal Contents • BazTOL - Subject Portal of Polish Internet Sources on Technical Science Access to both database is available via the Internet free of charge. The Project is financed with fund awarded from Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Educaton. |
