Open Access Week October 21-27, 2024
"Community Over Commercialization"
From October 21 to 27, 2024, we celebrate International Open Access Week under the theme "Community Over Commercialization". The main theme arises from the need to "prioritize open education that best serves the interests of society and the academic community" (www.openaccessweek.org/(new window)).
The Cracow University of Technology has been implementing solutions supporting open science for years, starting with the introduction of the Open Access Policy, creation of the Repository of the Cracow University of Technology (green route of publishing), and the RODBUK Cracow Open Research Data Repository (new window), as well as enabling researchers to benefit from open publishing programs funded under national licenses.
-
Diamond Open Access (diamond route) – open access to journal content for all interested parties. The business model assumes that the journal does not charge authors an APC (Article Processing Charge), with editorial costs covered by institutions, universities, research centers, museums, libraries, or academic societies associated with the journal
-
Gold Open Access (gold route) – open access for all interested parties. The publisher provides free access to all articles on the journal's website; however, the APC (Article Processing Charges) must be paid by the author or the funding institution
-
Green Open Access ( green route) – open access through a repository, where the author uploads a preprint or postprint of their publication (in accordance with the agreement made with the publisher)
RODBUK
- For depositing research data collections, we recommend RODBUK Cracow Open Research Data Repository, which aligns with the Open Science policy. RODBUK allows researchers, PhD candidates and students involved in research projects to deposit, archive, and share data across various disciplines and in different formats.
- RODBUK is co-created by six Cracow universities: AGH University of Krakow, University of Physical Education in Krakow, Cracow University of Technology, Krakow University of Economics, Jagiellonian University in Kraków and University of the National Education Commission, Krakow.
- It is the first open research data repository in Poland which adopted a distributed model. Each university involved in the project administers its own instance of the system, while all research data resources are visible to users in a shared aggregator at https://rodbuk.pl (new window).
CRIS PK
The Knowledge Platform of the Cracow University of Technology – CRIS PK (new window) is a tool for collecting, archiving, and presenting information about the scientific potential of Cracow University of Technology, with a particular emphasis on open access. The platform enables the sharing of scientific achievements, artistic works, as well as all professional activities and accomplishments of the University's staff, PhD candidates and students. It also includes data on publications, research data, and doctoral dissertations that have been made "open" under the open access policy.
Currently, authors from the Cracow University of Technology have made 14,500 publications, more than 400 doctoral dissertations, and 18 research datasets open, including 10 made available in RODBUK.
