Open Education Week: 6-10 March, 2023
The aim of the action is to promote Open Educational Resources and spread knowledge of the open education movement, as well as to exchange experiences in this area. Open Education Week is coordinated by Open Education Global.
Open Educational Resources are materials for teaching, learning, and research in any medium, both digital and otherwise, that are in the public domain or materials made available under free licenses that allow free access, use, adaptation, and further dissemination of the material in question without restriction. Free licenses are based on the existing definition of intellectual property as defined by relevant international conventions; they recognize the author of a resource [UNESCO Declaration 2012]. Open Educational Resources are not only text-based scientific publications, but also photos, companies, simulations, animations, radio and TV recordings, quizzes or games. They are an integral part of Open Education. They can be downloaded from dedicated repositories or websites.
More info at the CUT Library website.
How to use open educational resources in teaching, didactics? We invite you to visit the website of the Coalition for Open Education (new window) where you will find, among other things, answers to the questions: whether books (publications) obtained from the Internet can be used for teaching and research purposes? Can you make them available to your students? Can they be "converted" in any way? etc.
CUT Repository
Using the Repository of the Cracow University of Technology (new window), we are beneficiaries of the idea of Open Science (new window).
Thanks to open access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we provide the possibility to use the texts of publications and research results authored by employees, doctoral students and students of the Cracow University of Technology, as well as those materials of which the CUT is the publisher. We provide digital access to:
- journal articles,
- books,
- theses and dissertations,
- teaching materials,
- conference materials and presentations,
- digitised special collections.
Most of these resources can be used from anywhere after logging into your library account. The rest of the resources are accessible from computers located on the university network.
It's worth depositing your work at the CUT Repository. It's very easy!
Open Textbooks
The rich portfolio of Open Educational Resources includes a number of textbooks and scientific monographs that can be used in the learning process.
An example of such an open collection at the CUT are the monographs and teaching materials developed under the POWER project "Programming for Excellence - PK XXI 2.0. Programme for the Development of the Cracow University of Technology 2018-22". All materials and textbooks are available for free, open access on the project website. This collection can also be accessed through the CUT Repository.
Using the resources of the CUT Repository, we recommend the following:
- Textbooks collection (depending on the license, the publication can be downloaded or read online)
- Doctoral dissertations defended at the CUT, i.e. doctoral theses defended at individual faculties of the CUT in recent years. (depending on the license, the publication can be downloaded or read online)
