CUT Library Week
Library - a place on trend

It is a space that is accessible to all, regardless of age, ability or reading preference. It is a central place for cultural experiences. “Library - a place on trend” is not limited to traditional books - it promotes a variety of reading, including: audiobooks, e-books, educational games, podcasts, online learning platforms and other non-standard forms. It is a place where people can use interactive applications, virtual reality or educational projects based on artificial intelligence. “Library - a place on trend” stresses the need for constant adaptation to the changing needs of society, takes into account new trends, but also experiments with innovative forms of knowledge and cultural transmission. “Library - a place on trend” is a space for discussion, exchange of ideas and community.
The CUT Library for the 18th time joined in the celebration of the National Library Week, 8-15 May, 2024.The programme of celebrations was very rich, and the Library was full of guests.
The most talked-about Library event on campus was the picnic with which we kicked off the celebration. There was a barbecue, competitions that were very popular, a booth for measuring body composition, a bookcrossing zone and a Donate a Book campaign. The icing on the picnic cake was the panel “Let's talk about travel,” during which library staff talked about their mountain trips. Special guests of the panel, were Dominika and Marcin Kozłowski, authors of the book „Pod Wiatr. 60 tysięcy kilometrów przez Afrykę” and a blog Grupa Wschodu, who spun an exciting tale full of sunshine, adventure, the history of the people and the mysterious face of Africa.
The following day, the CUT Library Open Day was held, accompanied by the idea of “let's get to know each other.” Our users had the opportunity to visit the library premises, normally inaccessible to outsiders, as well as to get to know our employees performing their duties outside the space available to users. As a result, we expanded the circle of library acquaintances, which we are very happy about. In addition, there were tremendously interesting shows prepared by Anna Strojna-Krzystanek, M.A. “Lithographic prints in the CUT Library collection” and an extraordinary demonstration “CUT Library treasures hidden in the safe”.
The CUT Library Week also included a meeting with retired CUT Library employees and an informational meeting for library employees of University units, who filled our reading room in large numbers.
On the penultimate day of the celebration, the “Spreading Knowledge” action took place, during which we planted plants in front of the Main Building of the CUT Library. Employees of other University units also joined the project. Together we greened the space around the Library.
Webinars and training sessions for students and doctoral students were scheduled throughout CUT Library Week. We published the 18th issue of our occasional „Bibliodniówka” magazine. The CUT Library Week was rich in contests with valuable prizes, held on the Library's Facebook profile. It was covered by the media patronage of Radio Nowinki, with which the Library has been cooperating since March this year, realizing a series of broadcasts “One library, many possibilities”. The CUT Library is always on time and on the spot for its Users.
