Collection of Prof. Michał Życzkowski

The official opening of the 3,200-volume collection took place on 28 November, 2007. Michał Życzkowski was a professor of applied mechanics at the Cracow University of Technology, a specialist in the theory of plasticity, rheology, stability and optimal shaping of structures and applied mathematics.

The Professor's book collection was transferred to the CUT Library thanks to the kindness of the scientist's family, who donated it after his death. The collection is freely available in a dedicated room at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Library (BWM). It consists mainly of publications in the field of mechanics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, geodesy and mining. Foreign-language publications, often with authors' dedications, constitute a significant part of the collection. Each copy bears the professor's ownership stamp.

Due to the great value, the collection is for reference only. It is available at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Library (BWM) reading rooms. Link to the collection in the CUT Library catalogue.

Collection of Bohdan and Maria Paczowski

The CUT Library received a donation of the extremely valuable book collection of Bohdan and Maria Paczowski in 2019. Bohdan Paczowski (1930-2017) was an internationally recognized architect, journalist and photographer who had lived in Luxembourg for many years. He studied at the Cracow and Milan Polytechnics. He ran his architectural studios in Milan, Paris and Luxembourg. His wife, Maria Paczowska (1932-2019) was a writer and essayist, author of the novel "Sentyments" and an in-house lecturer at the Mondadori publishing house in Milan.

Maria and Bohdan collected books that reflected their work, passions and interests. They received many of them from fellow writers and artists, so the book collection contains numerous dedications, notes and authors' comments. The collection has about 12.5 thousand items, of which about 3.5 thousand are publications in the field of art, architecture, urban planning and photography. This collection is an invaluable source of knowledge and inspiration for students of architecture, academic staff, architects, town planners, designers and people interested in classical and modern art.

The collection is for reference only. It is available at the Science Reading Room. Link to the collection in the CUT Library catalogue.
