The CUT Library e-resources policy and rules

  1. The right to access licensed electronic resources is granted to CUT employees and students as well as authorized users of the CUT Library.
  2. Access to electronic resources is possible from selected computers located on the premises of the CUT (authorization is done by verification of the IP address) or computers located outside the University (authorization requires user login and password). Users who can use remote access to e-resources are only employees, students and senior professors of the CUT. A current library account is required to use remote access.
  3. You log in by entering your library card number, Electronic Student Status (ELS) or university identification card and password.
  4. If you have problems when logging in, check if your library account is valid; if not, contact one of the CUT Library Lending Room:
    - Lending Room (24 Warszawska St.)
    - The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Library (BWM) (37G Jana Pawła II Av.)
  5. The CUT Library reserves the right to monitor and keep statistics on access to electronic resources.
Access rights

The CUT Library users can use e-resources with the principles of fair use or other restrictions related to copyright specified by applicable regulations:

  • you can browse, display, search the content provided,
  • you can download, save, print individual works, or fragments thereof, in accordance with the actual needs arising from the scientific, research or teaching work carried out,
  • you can send single works, or excerpts thereof, at the request of libraries as part of interlibrary loans,
  • you can create individual collections of works for the duration of teaching and/or research.
Prohibited uses

According to the license agreements for the use of e-resources, authorized users of the CUT Library cannot:

  • make copies of large quantities of licensed materials, so-called "black archives", and in particular, systematically copy entire issues of journals (including the use of "spider", "web-crawling" and other software for automatic search and download of content).
  • make copies bearing the hallmarks of commercial distribution and/or redistribution to users other than authorized users. The number of articles downloaded in a single session should correspond to the actual needs arising from scientific/teaching work.
  • grant third parties access to electronic resources by sharing your login and password.
  • publish excerpts from works, either in original or altered form, without mentioning the source and copyright.

Unauthorized use of licensed databases may result in disabling access for the entire University. Accordingly, the CUT Library reserves the right to terminate access to e-resources, periodically or permanently, for users who violate the above rules.
