RODBUK Cracow Open Research Data Repository (nowe okno)

RODBUK aims to implement the Open Science policy by creating a publicly available digital platform for depositing research datasets. The purpose of the repository is to collect, organize, archive and make available in open access all types of research data created by scientists in the course of their scientific activity.

The uniqueness of RODBUK is due to its adopted model of operation. This is the first repository in Poland co-created by six universities: AGH University of Science and Technology, University of Physical Education in Krakow, Cracow University of Technology, Krakow University of Economics, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Pedagogical University of Krakow. Although each university manages its own collection of the system all research data resources are visible to users in a common search aggregator.

RODBUK usage is free of charge and accessible to everyone on the internet.

RODBUK allows to collect and share open research data from various disciplines and in all file formats, where each dataset obtains a permanent Digital Object Identifier (DOI). Thanks to this, data is easy to find and identify, which has a positive effect on its dissemination and promotion (indexed and can be cited).

RODBUK is compliant with the Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe (OpenAIRE (new window)) guidelines. RODBUK applies the FAIR Principles by GO FAIR (new window), which means the data is:
 • findable,
 • accessible,
 • interoperable,
 • reusable.

RODBUK is registered in the Registry of Research Data Repositories  (www.re3data.org (nowe okno)) recommended by the National Science Centre.

Deposit your data with RODBUK

In order to deposit your data for the first time, you need to set up an account using your university e-mail address in your institution domain. Only logged-in users may deposit data after accepting the RODBUK Terms and Conditions (in Polish only). Login takes place through the university's authentication server. Guidelines for depositing research data (User Guide (new window)) together with a set of frequently asked questions (FAQ (new window)) will help you to familiarize with the principles of the repository's operation.

RODBUK allows you to choose one of the Creative Commons licences for deposited datasets or any other licence which meet your requirements from the drop-down menu. National Centre Science (NCN) recommends Creative Commons Public Domain CC0 (nowe okno) for research data (more information on the NCN website (new window)).
Also the European Commission in the Horizon Europe program requires immediate open access to all scientific publications and responsible management of research data so that they comply with the FAIR principles. Research data should be "as open as possible and as closed as necessary" - “open” in order to foster the reusability and to accelerate research, but at the same time they should be “closed” to safeguard the privacy of the subjects.
For more information, see the Horizon Europe Guide (new window) and the Horizon Europe Open Science in Practice (new window).
